Data

Baltimore County's GIS contains an extensive catalog of data, including basemaps and thematic map layers. The agencies responsible for maintaining the layer is provided with layer description. The list below is not an inclusive of all data produced by the County. For more information on layer availability please contact the GIS Unit.

Base Maps

Baltimore County's base maps are county-wide data sets produced at large-scale.  Base maps include cadastral (property), orthophotography, planimetric/topographic and street centerline databases.  The Office of Information Technology's Business Applications Unit/GIS staff maintains the County's base maps.

Grids & Indexes

Baltimore County uses several grids and indexes to divide the county into manageable sections for printing purposes.  The grids were devised to optimize the amount of paper used where printing at a particular scale. 

Thematic Maps

Baltimore County develops and maintains numerous thematic maps.  Thematic maps vary in detail and content but generally include data for the entire county, present a single theme and are maintained for a specific program.
