Q. How do I apply for a job with Baltimore County Department of Social Services?

A. We hire both County and State employees. To apply for a County position: you must file an application with the Office of Personnel. For job information, you can contact the Baltimore County Job Line at 410-887-JOBS. To apply for a State position: you must file an application with the Department of Budget and Management, Office of Human Resources. For job information, you can contact the State of Maryland Personnel Services Information Line at 410-767-4850.

Q. I am interested in working for the Department of Recreation and Parks. How can I find out about employment opportunities?

A. If you are interested in full time employment, you must contact the Baltimore County Office of Human Resources at 410-887-3135 for information on position availability and the application procedure. Part time positions are filled at the local level. Contact your Community Recreation Office by phone or in person for an application.

Q. How many full part-time positions are employed in Baltimore County government?

A. There are 7,682 full part-time positions employed in the County's central government and another 14,788 positions with the County's schools, community college, and libraries - thus a total of 22,470. Public Safety comprises over half (3,954) of those central government positions.

Q. How can I provide clerical/secretarial services out of my home to the County on a contractual basis?

A. Generally, the County obtains supplemental clerical support from temporary employment agencies and does not secure such services on a contractual basis.

Q. Where does one obtain verification of present and prior employment, wage information, lost wages, and time lost due to accidents?

A. All requests for employment verification must be in writing and written authorization from the employee is needed in order to release information. Send requests to: Baltimore County Government, Office of Human Resources, 308 Allegheny Avenue, Towson, MD 21204 for FAX 410-887-6073. Employment verifications include employment record checks, attendance record checks, financial institution requests, and subpoenas for records. The Office of Human Resources, as a matter of policy, will not provide information regarding a current or former employee's personal characteristics and work habits.
