The Criminal Justice Services Unit provides substance abuse assessment, referral, and treatment readiness services to clients with substance abuse related legal problems. Rapid Screening Assessments are provided free of charge in both the District and Circuit Court locations at the time of trial. Recommendations are given to the judiciary for use in their dispositions.
In addition, in-depth substance abuse evaluations with treatment recommendations are provided to the judiciary for certain court-ordered defendants.
Substance abuse services are also provided in the Baltimore County Detention Center. Ongoing services are offered to work-release inmates.
