Public health nurses provide health assessment, health information, counseling, referral and support services for the older adults living at selected senior residential facilities. The goal of the program is to help seniors maintain healthy, independent living in their homes. The program offers individual and group assessment and education. Special group presentations are provided on such topics as over the counter medications, reading food labels, holiday blues, healthy heart, podiatry, eating well on a limited budget.
Services are provided at the Essex Cooperative, Golden Ring Cooperative, Timothy House, Village Oaks, Virginia Towers, Tabco Towers, Wienberg Gardens, Center Place, and Parkview at Dundalk.
The public health nurse visits each site at least one half day each month.
