The Baltimore County Drug and Alcohol Abuse Council was formed in January 2005 by legislative mandate. Dr. Gregory Wm. Branch chairs the 23 member council, which consists of local Baltimore County officials, directors, judiciary, community members and prevention and treatment providers. Recognizing that substance abuse is one of the greatest threats to Baltimore County's families, neighborhoods, schools and communities, the council's mission is to develop strategies and priorities that aim to meet the substance abuse prevention and treatment needs of the County, while expanding, strengthening, and sustaining an integrated prevention, intervention, and treatment system that will result in reductions in the incidence and consequence of substance abuse and related problems in Baltimore County.

 Council Meetings
