The Animal Shelter advertises available pets on this web site.

The Baltimore County Animal Shelter receives a variety of dogs and cats daily. Many of these loveable animals may be available for adoption, if they are not claimed by their owners.
To adopt a pet you must present a photo identification card, be at least 18 years-of-age, and place a $20 deposit for the pet. Download the Pet Adoption Brochure (PDF) for more information.
If you have placed a deposit on a stray pet that is reclaimed by its owner, you may choose another pet or have your deposit refunded. Once you have made your pet selection, a veterinarian will give the pet a physical exam. If the doctor determines the pet is not adoptable because of health or temperament, the shelter will contact you and you may make another selection. If the pet passes the check-up, he or she will get a rabies shot, de-worming and first series of shots.
Cats/Kittens and Dogs/Puppies come with:
- Spay/Neuter Certificate (worth $29 for females and $23 for males)
- Rabies Shot
- License (required by Baltimore County law)
- First Series of Vaccinations
- Microchip with lifetime registry
- Welcome Home Kit
