April is National Alcohol Awareness Month - Drinking too much alcohol increases people’s risk of health-related injuries, violence, drowning, liver disease and some types of cancer. You can help spread the word ways to prevent alcohol misuse or abuse. Learn more.
National Minority Health and Health Disparities Month in April - highlights the need to lower the gap between minorities and non-minorities of health factors such as preventable disease, death, and disability.
The Baltimore County Health Coalition is working to achieve Maryland State Health Improvement process objectives and ensure that we have healthy people living, working, and playing in Baltimore County. As the Coalition continues to move forward with its initiatives, additional information will be posted to this website.
The Coalition is working to reduce the following:
- Low birth weight and very low birth weight
- Proportion of young children and adolescents who are obese
- Tobacco use by adults*
- Proportion of youths who use any kind of tobacco product*
*These priorities are being addressed by the Baltimore County Tobacco Coalition.
