This is Station 55's patch.Station 55 - Perry Hall

Station 55 serves Perry Hall and the surrounding communities in Baltimore County, Maryland.

History -- The 1980s

The Perry Hall Fire Station #55 was built in 1984 on the property and land of the former Perry Hall Elementary School. This 4-acre wooded lot allowed for the building of a new fire station, designed by architects Gerald A. Baxter, Inc., and allowed for the renovation of the school to be used by Catholic Charities.

The groundbreaking ceremony was held July 5, 1984, with County Executive Donald P. Hutchinson attending. The station opened for operations on July 1, 1985 at 8 a.m.; it was equipped with Medic 55 and Truck 8.  On October 10, 1985, Engine 55 was placed in service, and Truck 8 moved back to Fullerton Station #8.

The additional office space has been used for emergency medical offices; one room is used for the on-call Fire Investigation Division investigator. Later, an EMS supervisor's office was located at the station. Currently, the office space is used by the Eastern Fire Marshal's Office.

The 1979 county Master Plan identified Owings Mills and Perry Hall-White Marsh as growth areas where self-sustaining, planned communities would emerge.

Population in the Perry Hall-White Marsh Growth area grew from 45,681 in 1990 to 54,648 in 2000.

Since the Perry Hall-White Marsh Plan was adopted, major roadway projects have been completed providing access and water and sewer service to much of the growth area. Approximately 2.9 million square feet of private, non-residential development took place in the growth area from 1990-1998.
