Station 13 - Westview

Station 13 serves Westview and the surrounding communities in Baltimore County, Maryland.

History Station 13's patch

Westview Station 13 opened on November 8, 1965. The first Engine 13 was a 1965 Mack, C-85, 750-gallon per minute pumper with a 500 gallon water tank.

Engine 13's first response was November 11, 1965, to 1305 Black Friars Road for a television on fire.

Truck 13 arrived on February 20, 1967. This was Baltimore County's fourth truck company, along with Trucks 1 (Towson), 5 (Halethorpe), and 15 (Eastview).

Truck, 13, the first truck, was a 1965 Seagrave with a 65-foot aerial and a 100-gallon water tank. In 1972, it was replaced with a 1972, American LaFrance Snorkel with a 90-foot articulating boom.  Before it was even delivered to the station, it was dispatched to a five-alarm fire at the Pagoda Inn restaurant, at 1010 Reisterstown Road, in Pikesville. This was the first aerial platform in the history of the Baltimore County Fire Department.

Ambulance 13 (renamed Medic 13 in 1978) was placed in service in 1968. In 1993, it was called "Paramedic #13" if manned with an EMT-P. On July 1, 1997, a second-line medic unit was placed in service at Stations 1, 7, 13, and 18. These units were manned by personnel also assigned to ride suppression and were used to provide medic support during peak hours and for seriously ill or injured patients. It was placed out of service on Feb. 6, 1998.

On April 2, 2001, a Medic 113 was again placed in service Monday through Friday, during daytime hours. Station 13

The third generation Engine 13, placed in service in 1997, has a 1997 Freightliner chassis with a 3-D body and a Hale pump.  It is equipped with a 1,250 gallons per minute pump and a 750 gallon water tank.  The engine has a 50-gallon foam tank near the pump.

The third generation Truck 13 is a Spartan-L.T.I., 106-foot Aerial, tiller truck equipped with a pre-piped, bed-section waterway and a mounted deck gun, in addition to the regular flypipe.  It also has a pre-connected Hurst Rescue Reel system.  In 1998, Truck 13 (the Spartan/LTI) was replaced by a 1995 Seagrave, Tractor Drawn, 100-foot Aerial.

Haz-Mat Satellite #13

Engine #13 is a hazardous materials satellite company.  In 1968, Foam 13, a high expansion foam unit,  was assigned to the station.

Hazmat Satellite 13 was placed in service in 1996.  This Ford F-350 diesel vehicle carries supplies for hazardous materials responses, including Tyvec suits, duct tape, rubber boots, a wedge kit and extra absorbent, several meters and foam.  It runs with Engine 13 on all hazardous materials assignments.
