Station 11 serves Hillendale and the surrounding communities in Baltimore County, Maryland. Station 11 opened on June 16, 1962, with a dedication ceremony on August 15, 1962. Its first units were Engine 11; reserve Engine 65, a 1949 Mack pumper; and a jeep. In December 1962, the company received a new Mack pumper. From the day the station opened until the end of 1962, Engine 11 ran 210 responses. In 1963, E11 ran 416 responses. In 2006, E11 ran 1,784 responses. The following historical anecdotes are taken from station ledger pages: - January 5, 1964 -- The first response for Jeep 11 was a Fire Alarm Box
Inspection. - July 3, 1968 -- The station received shotguns, serial numbers 1239807 and 1240050, used to protect the firehouse in case of a riot.
- December 21, 1968 -- Lt. H. Bell was off on civil disorder day.
- April 26, 1970 -- Fireman Norris Stratmeyer was late, 8:14 a.m. due to not changing his clocks to Daylight Savings Time.
- March 10, 1974 -- Shotguns, ammunition and cleaning equipment were removed from the station by BC-6 Blucher.
