| |  | All applicants for Probationary Emergency Medical Technician must take a timed agility performance test. The test involves six physical tests. Applicants' times are measured continuously from the start of the agility performance testing until all six tasks are completed. Resting is permitted at any time during the testing. - Requires kneeling down on the side of a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) mannequin and performing chest compressions for five minutes.
- Requires climbing a 35-foot, pre-thrown ladder to the top, one rung at a time, non-stop, using a hand-over-hand method and then climbing back down using the same technique. The climb must be done only once.
- Requires grabbing a 160-pound mannequin by attached straps and dragging it along the ground for 40 feet. The drag must be performed only once.
- Requires carrying a 15-pound weight to the top of a flight of steps and then returning back down.
- Requires carrying a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) in its case from one point to another for 15 feet, up a set of outside stairs, then setting the SCBA down and then carrying it back to the starting point. The test must be performed once.
- Requires removing gloves, sitting at a table and assembling and disassembling a variety of nuts and bolts. The task must be performed once.
