Driver Turn-In Procedures
Driver's License Requirements
These procedures assume the candidate already has one of the following. For assistance obtaining a Class A or B Maryland Driver's License or State of Maryland Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (EVO) Card, view the Driver's Licensing page.
- Maryland residents need either a Class A or Class B Maryland Driver’s License. It can be either commercial (CDL) or non-commercial (NCDL).
- Non-Maryland residents with a valid out-of-state Class A or B license do not need any other license/card to drive that class of vehicle in Baltimore County.
- Non-Maryland residents with a valid out-of-state Class B or C license will need an EVO Card (signed by the Director of the Fire Academy) to drive apparatus of a different class. A signed Provisional EVO Card will also be needed prior to beginning training on those classes of vehicles.
