“Working With People With Disabilities” – A Guide for Responders" is a 26-minute training DVD designed to help personnel from emergency medical services, fire, and police, and others work effectively and compassionately with persons with disabilities.

"Working With People With Disabilities" was produced by the Baltimore County Fire Department in cooperation with the Baltimore County Commission on Disabilities.
This training tool is endorsed by the Maryland Department of Disabilities; the Governor’s Office of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing; the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS); Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute (MFRI); Maryland State Firemen's Association (MSFA); and the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions; as well as a number of other public agencies and private advocacy groups.
The DVD was intended as training for emergency medical services, fire, and law enforcement personnel who respond to emergency incidents involving persons with disabilities. However, it includes information useful to anyone who works with persons with disabilities, including first-person accounts from people with a variety of disabilities.
More than 1,200 copies of the DVD have been distributed in response to requests from a wide range of agencies and organizations from across the U.S. and Canada.
In addition to public safety agencies, the American Red Cross, Central Maryland Chapter, the Baltimore County Department of Social Services, and the Baltimore County Department of Aging and other similar organizations use this training resource.
