Land Preservation

Programs, Easement Locator, and Agricultural Zoning Forms

Land Preservation provides land owners with assistance on land preservation programs, stewardship of existing easements, applications for easement modifications, and applications for agricultural zoning requests. Baltimore County’s nationally acclaimed Land Preservation program provides landowners the opportunity to receive income, estate, or property tax benefits while maintaining ownership and privacy.

Baltimore County now has a new tool for preserving natural and agricultural resources. The Sustainable Growth and Agricultural Act of 2012, or Senate Bill 236, became law on July 1, 2012.  On December 20, 2012, Andrea Van Arsdale, Director of the Baltimore County Department of Planning, officially adopted the Baltimore County Growth Tiers and Growth Tier Map (PDF), thereby implementing the requirements of the Act. To find out more information about the Growth Tier Map and the bill, visit the Department of Planning's website.
