The Back River Neck Peninsula is one of seven districts that comprise Baltimore County's Coastal Rural Legacy Area. This area is 3,819 acres and is located approximately 12 miles east of Baltimore, Md. It is the goal of the Coastal Rural Legacy Plan to protect large blocks of forest, wetlands, farms and other open spaces that are of significant ecological value. Baltimore County DEPRM has completed an ecological resource study. The study includes assessments of the plant community, wetlands, wildlife, shoreline, and stream conditions. The full report is available in local libraries or you may download selected sections from the following list: Join your community members in a presentation and discussion of the results in the Back River Neck Ecological Assessment Report. This report identifies areas of uniqueness and sensitivity on lands currently under ownership or easement by Baltimore County or the State of Maryland. Provide input in community priorities for these lands.
