Welcome to Environmental Protection

Program Highlights

  • Land Preservation Program - This program provides a variety of options to promote the preservation of our land and natural resources.
  • Waterway Improvement Program - The CIP section manages capital projects involving the stabilization and restoration of eroding streams and shorelines. They will also deal with projects that retrofit stormwater management facilities to enhance water quality.
  • Environmental Health Program - This section deals with food facility inspections, along with community environmental health issues such as rodents, insects, and private water and sewer complaints.
  • Ground Water Management - The Groundwater Management section deals with the permitting of private well and septic systems.
  • Land Development Program - The Department is responsible for reviewing land development projects for compliance with local environmental laws and regulations.
  • Waste Management Program - This program is responsible for issues involving household hazardous waste, chemical/medical waste, waste management information, landfills, recycling facilities, and trash truck inspections.
