Emergency Notification System
The Baltimore County’s Emergency Notification System (ENS) is a notification tool designed to enhance emergency preparedness and notify citizens and businesses in Baltimore County of emergency situations that may require time sensitive actions.
The system has the ability to send a recorded message or email to Baltimore County homes and businesses, providing pertinent safety information or instructions. Since the system went online in 2007, ENS has been used in Baltimore County for severe weather events, incidents involving hazardous materials, utility outage notifications and more.
If you use traditional Verizon phone service only, not including cell service, and do not wish to receive email notification, no action is required.
Who Should Register
- If you want email alerts, you should register.
- If you use a provider other than Verizon, you should register.
- If you only use non-traditional Verizon phone service, you should register.
- If you live outside of the Baltimore-Metro broadcast area and need to be informed of emergency notifications, you should register.
Baltimore County, in an effort to inform more citizens in the event of an emergency situation, is making the ENS voluntary self registration available.
In order to register, you must have a valid email account. Because of the unforeseen nature of some large-scale emergencies, no one can fully guarantee that you will receive a notification every time. Please keep yourself informed by continuing to monitor other public safety warning and information systems (such as television and radio) whenever possible.
