Once a key route for farmers delivering grain from nearby Granite and Woodbine, today's Woodlawn is a center for federal government headquarters, government contractors and business services.  Woodlawn's business centers offer a mix of flex and office space, conveniently located at the intersection of Interstates 695 and 70. 

Federal headquarters for the Social Security Administration and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services employ more than 13,000. A cluster of information technology firms supports these sophisticated operations, led by 1,000 software engineers and technicians at Lockheed Information Systems. 

Woodlawn's central location provides ideal access for operations and distribution centers. Major employers include a new regional FBI headquarters, operations centers for Provident Bank and BGE, and Beverage Capital.

Alpharma U.S.P.D., the country's largest manufacturer of generic liquid pharmaceuticals, operates a major plant on Lord Baltimore Drive.
