Use Every Tax Credit Your Company Qualifies For

Enterprise Zone Tax Credits

Companies located in Baltimore County's two designated Enterprise Zones many qualify for ten-year property and income tax credits. Zones underutilized industrial properties in Halethorpe and North Point and the bwtech@UMBC research and technology park. Businesses in the North Point and Southwest Zones that expand and/or add employees are eligible for both County and Maryland state tax credits.

The establishment of the Baltimore County Enterprise Zones added another tool to encourage redevelopment in older industrial areas. Since their creation, the zones have spurred the expansion or relocation of 91 businesses in the two zones. Companies have invested over $116 million in real property improvements and $208 million in machinery and equipment, creating 1,904 new jobs have been created.

Use the below maps or the My Neighborhood: Enterprise Zones application to determine what properties are within Enterprise Zones. My Neighborhood:Enterprise Zone will allow you to enter an address and automatically map it to determine eligibility.

The simple application makes businesses in Baltimore County Enterprise Zones eligible for County and Maryland State tax credits.

Brownfields Tax Credit (Brochure and Application)

The Baltimore County Brownfields Tax Credit is available to properties that have gone through the Maryland Voluntary Cleanup Program (VCP) and have received formal designation by the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED) as a qualified Brownfields site."

The County Brownfields Credit was established under Bill No. 107-97. It provides a 50% property tax credit on the increased county real property tax liability for a qualified brownfields site after a voluntary cleanup or corrective plan has been completed under the Maryland VCP. A qualified brownfields site may receive an additional 20% credit if the site is located in one of the County's two Enterprise Zones, in of 12 designated Commercial Revitalization Districts, or if the total cost of the cleanup exceeds $1,000,000. The credit applies for 5 taxable years if the site is in an Enterprise Zone.

Baltimore County Green Building Tax Credit (PDF) (Application)

Baltimore County enacted Maryland's first property tax credit to encourage development of high performance buildings. The tax credit is available to the owner of a Baltimore County commercial building with completed LEED platinum, gold, or silver certification.

Maryland Job Creation Tax Credit

If your company plans to create more than 25 new jobs at a single Maryland location over the next two years, you may qualify for a State tax credit for each new job added. Please call us for details.
