The U.S. General Services Administration plans to auction the 1.9 million square foot Federal Depot facility in Middle River during 2005.  The Middle River Depot is strategically located in the heart of a waterfront area that has been experiencing phenomenal residential and commercial growth.  It is adjacent to the new MD43 highway, Lockheed Martin, and GE Middle River Aircraft Systems and Martin State Airport, a coporate and general aviation airport.   Read the U.S. General Sevices Administration information on the Federal Depot.

Baltimore County stands ready to assist prospective developers as they invest in quality redevelopment of the Middle River Depot.  Baltimore County's package of  expanded business assistance tools can facilitate projects that meet the County and the community's vision for a mix of business, residential and commercial uses on the property.

Ground has been broken for a 46 acres site at the Owings Mills Metro Station for a mixed-use, transit-oriented town center.  The pedestrian-friendly center will surround the Metro subway station, which provides direct service to downtown Baltimore and the Johns Hopkins medical campus.  Located in the center of the Owings Mills growth area, Metro Center at Owings Mills when complete in ten to fifteen years will offer:  

  • 1.2 million square feet of office
  • 495 Residential units
  • 227,530 square feet of Retail
  • 75,000 square feet of restaurants
  • 250 room hotel
  • the largest public library in Baltimore County
  • a new 60,000 square foot Community College
Owings Mills Metro Station will be a mixed-use, transit-oriented town center.
