Eat Fresh, Buy Local at Baltimore County's Farmers' Markets

Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith announced a new campaign to encourage shoppers to buy fresh goods at their local farmers' markets. "Eat Fresh Buy Local" focuses on the healthy, fresh foods available at Baltimore County's nine farmers' markets. Baltimore County farmers bring a wealth of products to market, including fresh turkeys, beef and bison, luscious fruits and vegetables and beautiful plants and flowers.

Free Gifts June 22 - July 3, 2009

The first 100 customers visiting each of Baltimore County's nine farmers' markets June 22 through July 3 will receive two free gifts - a re-usable market bag and a bookmark with the days and times the County farmers markets are open.

Local foods also good for the environment

"Baltimore County's home grown foods come straight from our farms, which means they get to your table faster and fresher," said Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith. "Locally grown foods also are good for the environment, reducing carbon emissions by taking away miles of long distance trucking."
