Towson, Md. (November 18, 2008)—Baltimore County will offer area shoppers free parking at all street meters and metered County parking lots during its Holiday Free Meter Parking Program, Thanksgiving Day through the holiday weekend (November 27 - November 30) and December 14 - 21, 2008. Sponsored by Baltimore County Economic Development and the Baltimore County Revenue Authority, the holiday parking program is part of the County's "ReDiscover Your Neighborhood Downtown" marketing campaign. The campaign encourages consumers to patronize local shops and restaurants in the "neighborhood downtowns" near where they live, work and spend time. "Local shops offer unique gifts, great restaurants and personalized service," said David Iannucci, Executive Director of Baltimore County Economic Development, "and create a holiday shopping experience that cannot be duplicated in the larger retail malls and retail centers." Red "Seasons Greetings Free Parking" meter bags will be placed over the meters on the designated days. The County asks patrons to consider parking for two hours or less so that more people will have the opportunity to enjoy this offering during the holiday season. Baltimore County's neighborhood downtowns are located in Arbutus, Catonsville, Dundalk, Essex, Landsdowne, Liberty Road, Overlea-Fullerton, Parkville, Pikesville, Reisterstown, Towson and Woodlawn.
