Towson, MD (October 23, 2008)—Business leaders interested in creating or enhancing a successful internship program can learn more at "Internship 101: Recruiting and Hiring Your Next Generation Workforce," a free workshop November 14, 8:30-11 a.m. at the University of Baltimore, Merrick School of Business. The new workshop, developed through a partnership of the Baltimore County Department of Economic Development, Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce, University of Baltimore and the Baltimore Collegetown Network, will feature a presentation from Dumont Gerken Owen, Ph.D., director of the Career Center at UB, and roundtables with business representatives who have implemented effective internship programs. Attendees will leave with a better understanding of how to develop a pipeline of future employees through internships and how to identify talented student internship candidates in the region. Topics to be discussed include best practices, internship basics, legal issues, recruiting for diversity, supervising and communicating with millennials, and converting interns to employees.
