Towson, MD (September 22, 2008)—Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith will present the bwtech@UMBC Incubator and Accelerator with the County's New Directions Award, an honor given to a company or organization that exemplifies the quality of Baltimore County businesses in the future. The award will be given at the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame Awards Dinner on Thursday, November 20 at the Marriott Hunt Valley. The bwtech@UMBC Incubator and Accelerator is located adjacent to the University's research park and provides a nurturing environment for approximately 20 start-up and emerging and technology and life sciences companies. "The services provided by UMBC to entrepreneurial businesses encourage their growth and help to ensure a viable economic future for Baltimore County," state Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith. bwtech@UMBC provides affordable space, business advisory services, shared scientific equipment and a collaborative relationship with UMBC students to support start-ups as they engage in research development activities.
