Towson, MD (August 11, 2008) ViPS, Inc., a developer of high-end healthcare technology solutions to support federal agencies and commercial healthcare payers, has signed a seven year lease extension for its headquarters offices in downtown Towson, with assistance from the Baltimore County Department of Economic Development and Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development. The Baltimore County Department of Economic Development will provide a $250,000 loan to Towson Commons, LLC in order to retain ViPS in downtown Towson. The Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development also contributed $450,000 in State funds. The total conditional loan to retain ViPS is $700,000. "The State and County have stepped up to assure ViPS remains a strong economic anchor in downtown Towson," stated David S. Iannucci, Executive Director of the Baltimore County Department of Economic Development. Western Development Corporation, owner of the office tower, has begun over $1.6 million in building renovations to accommodate the ViPS expansion. ViPS also has operations in Woodlawn, near headquarters of one of its major customers, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Over $700 million in new private investment is underway in downtown Towson, with new residential, office and entertainment centers under construction.
