Towson, Md. (April 20, 2009)—Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith joined Linda Gooden, Executive Vice President, Lockheed Martin Information Systems and Global Services, as the company announced it is adding 160 new IT jobs and is expanding into it's sixth facility in Woodlawn. The company's expansion supports major contracts with the Social Security Administration and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Both federal agencies are headquartered in Baltimore County Maryland's Woodlawn Federal Center business community. "The announcement of new technology jobs is particularly important and welcome in these troubled economic times," said Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith. "Employment in the Woodlawn Federal Center now accounts for more than 14,500 jobs, a significant part of our County’s economic success." Lockheed Martin Information Systems is currently recruiting for the 160 new positions, which include computer systems analysts, computer programmers, business analysts, software engineers, database administrators, and web developers. The company also added 200 new jobs in Woodlawn over the past year, bringing their total local employment to 1,500. The Social Security Administration employs over 10,000 and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services nearly 3,000 at their Woodlawn headquarters. Both federal agencies also are expected to add new jobs during 2009. Lockheed Martin Information Technology's new offices at 1506 Woodlawn Boulevard will house 278 information technology professionals by the end of May 2009.
