Baltimore County Loan Program Assists Towson Salon With $250,000 Renovation
Towson, Md. (March 11, 2008) Baltimore County's Building Investment Loan Program has financed a $60,000 building improvement loan for LLuminaire Salon, located in downtown Towson's Commercial Revitalization District. The full service hair salon, owned and operated by Mario Rentuma and Dean Krapf since 2004, recently completed over $250,000 in renovations including upgrades to the HVAC and electrical systems, installation of new hardware floors and lighting.
"Building improvement investments made by local businesses contribute to the revitalization of Baltimore County's traditional neighborhood downtowns, helping to attract more consumers," stated David S. Iannucci, Executive Director of the Baltimore County Department of Economic Development.
Qualified businesses and property owners located in Baltimore County's 14 designated commercial revitalization districts may apply for zero-or-low interest loans of up to $40,000 for exterior improvements and $20,000 for interior renovations. Eligible improvements include items such as window and facade replacement, painting, landscaping, signage, electrical and HVAC systems.
Businesses may also qualify for free professional design services through Baltimore County's "Architect on Call" program as well as a commercial property tax credit for larger projects.
Commercial Revitalization districts are located in Arbutus, Baltimore National Pike, Catonsville-Paradise, Dundalk, Essex, Landsdowne, Liberty Road, Loch Raven, Overlea-Fullerton, Parkville, Pikesville, Reisterstown, Towson, Woodlawn.
