Towson, Md. (February 29, 2008) Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith and Councilman Joe Bartenfelder joined Bill Munn, President and CEO of BGE HOME, to officially open the company's new corporate headquarters at Baltimore Crossroads at 95 in Middle River. "The public sector's investment in extending Maryland Route 43 is paying off in new jobs and new private investment in Baltimore County's eastside, "said Baltimore county Executive Jim Smith. "We're particularly pleased that BGE HOME and the developers are respecting our environment with this high performance 'green' building." "Baltimore County welcomes BGE HOME as the second corporate headquarters to open along the new Maryland Route 43," said Councilman Joe Bartenfelder. BGE HOME consolidated four locations into 55,000 square feet, leasing more than half the entire building's available space. The BGE HOME headquarters building was developed by Chesapeake Real Estate Group of Glen Burnie, Maryland. "The consolidation of all BGE HOME office and support personnel allows for improved communications and efficiency," said Munn. BGE HOME's office-warehouse headquarters has been designed and constructed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building standards, a nationally accepted benchmark for environmental health, sustainable site development, and energy conservation. Baltimore Crossroads at 95 is a new 1,000 acre business parked located between White Marsh and the Middle River waterfront in eastern Baltimore County. Ten businesses have moved to the park since the extension of Maryland Route 43 opened in October 2006. The park's plan includes over 5 million square feet of commercial office, flex/research and development, warehouse and industrial space, plus two hotels and a retail village.
