Planning Board Public Hearing

The Baltimore County Planning Board will hold a public hearing on Thursday, November 7, at 5 p.m. in Room 104, Jefferson Building, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue, in Towson, regarding: Chestnut Ridge – Out of Cycle Zoning Reclassification – Documented Site Plan.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection

The Household Hazardous Waste Collection event is the opportunity for you to dispose of your household paints and chemicals, automotive fluids, lawn and garden chemicals, prescription medicines, fluorescent bulbs and mercury thermometers and thermostats. Also bring along your paint thinners, lighter fluid and glues or adhesives that have the potential to catch fire. Other materials such as pool chemicals and bleaches, can react violently to explode or produce toxic gases.

Major Improvement to Water Lines

In early October the Department of Public Works began renovating 9,200 feet of water line in Dundalk. Conduits which lie between North Point Road, Merritt Boulevard, Stansbury Road and Bear Creek are being cleaned and lined with cement to improve water quality and fire protection. This is a long-term project expected to take three years and cost $4.3 million.

Sewer Rehab in the District

Public Works began relining 10,280 feet of sewer line in Rosedale and Eastpoint in June. The project, which is part of Baltimore County’s agreement with the EPA to eliminate sewer overflows, will cost $698,000.

North Point Pumping Station

Renovation to the North Point Sewage Pumping Station began in October 2012. The $1.79 million project represents a complete rehabilitation of the facility and is expected to be completed by March 24, 2014.

Opening Rules for the Wise Avenue Bridge

The Wise Avenue Draw Bridge can now be raised and lowered for water traffic with notice to the Department of Public Works. To request a bridge opening, call 410-887-8160, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or the Public Works dispatch number at 410-887-5210.

The Department of Public Works has scheduled minor repairs to the bridge-house this fall. The work is not expected to impede traffic.
