Riverview Avenue, between Willow Spring Road and the Baltimore City line, recently qualified for traffic calming measures. Traffic engineers from the Department of Public Works have drafted plans to install speed humps on Riverview and are waiting for residents to review and approve the plan before proceeding.
Public Works will begin relining 10,280 feet of sewer line in Rosedale and Eastpoint in June. The project, which is part of Baltimore County’s agreement with the EPA to eliminate sewer overflows, will cost $698,000.
Renovation to the North Point Sewage Pumping Station began in October 2012. The $1.79 million project represents a complete rehabilitation of the facility and is expected to be completed by March 24, 2014.
Public Works is replacing the Colgate elevated water tank in Eastwood. The 60-year old tank will be superseded by a structure with a half-million gallon capacity. Work was begun in December 2011 and was originally expected to take about 18 months and cost $1.9 million. Crews are ahead of schedule and expect to finish in June. The job is 99 percent completed.
Demolition of the old tank and site restoration are scheduled to take place in the spring.
Baltimore County is replacing the old Dundalk Pumping Station at a cost of $5.9 million. Construction began February 9, 2011 and should be finished in early June.
The Wise Avenue Draw Bridge can now be raised and lowered for water traffic with notice to the Department of Public Works. To request a bridge opening, call 410-887-8160, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or the Public Works dispatch number at 410-887-5210.
Public Works is renovating two pumping stations in the Deep Creek area of Essex. The Marlyn Avenue Sewage Pumping Station project, which began June 6, 2012, is being renovated at a cost of $1.8 million. It should be finished by August 1. Work on the Marlyn Manor Station, off Homberg Avenue, began on January 3, 2012 and should be finished by July 11.
This is a $1.2 million investment.
