Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee Meeting

  • Citizen Input Meeting on Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee (PBAC) meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 16, at 5 p.m. in Room 104 of the Jefferson Building, 105 West Chesapeake Avenue in Towson.

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee is interested in hearing your suggestions for new bicycle or pedestrian improvements that could be candidates for grant funding - projects that are low in cost, make it easier or safer for you to access destinations by walking or cycling, and have the support of the community.

North Point Pumping Station

Renovation to the North Point Sewage Pumping Station began in October 2012. The $1.79 million project represents a complete rehabilitation of the facility and is expected to be completed by March 24, 2014.

Colgate Elevated Water Tank - Ahead of Schedule

Public Works is replacing the Colgate elevated water tank in Eastwood. The 60-year old tank will be superseded by a structure with a half-million gallon capacity. Work was begun in December 2011 and was originally expected to take about 18 months and cost $1.9 million. Crews are ahead of schedule and expect to finish this spring. The job is 97 percent completed.

Demolition of the old tank and site restoration are expected to take place in the spring.

Major Improvements to the Dundalk Pumping Station

Baltimore County is replacing the old Dundalk Pumping Station at a cost of $5.9 million. Construction began February 9, 2011 and should be finished on May 19, not April 28, as previously noted.

Opening Rules for the Wise Avenue Bridge

The Wise Avenue Draw Bridge can now be raised and lowered for water traffic with notice to the Department of Public Works. To request a bridge opening, call 410-887-8160, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or the Public Works dispatch number at 410-887-5210.

Sewage Pumping Stations in the District

Public Works is renovating two pumping stations in the Deep Creek area of Essex. The Marlyn Avenue Sewage Pumping Station project, which began in early June 2012, is being renovated at a cost of $1.8 million. It should be finished by August 1. Work on the Marlyn Manor Station, off Homberg Avenue, began on January 3, 2012 and should be finished by July this year.

This is a $1.2 million investment.
