EPS Variances

The Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (EPS) publishes a list of the environmental administrative variance requests along with their status. The requests are listed by County Council District.

Planning Board Meetings

The Baltimore County Planning Board meeting will be held on Thursday, July 18, at 4 p.m. in Room 104 of the Jefferson Building, 105 West Chesapeake Avenue in Towson.

Baltimore County Historic Preservation – NACo Award

The Preservation Services Division of the Department of Planning was granted a 2013 NACo Achievement Award in the category of Arts and Historic Preservation for their Historic Preservation Design Guidelines publication. The award recognizes innovative county programs that have yielded positive results for county residents. The Historic Preservation Design Guidelines were developed to be a resource for citizens who are interested in rehabilitating historic homes.

Bengies Sewer Pumping Station

The Bengies Sewer Pumping Station is being extensively improved. Work, costing $6.47 million, began in late June and will be finished in about a year.

Traffic Calming for Reames Road

Reames Road, off of Bird River Road in Middle River, recently qualified for traffic control measures. Three speed humps will be installed this summer.

Traffic Calming in Overlea

Dale Avenue, between Kenwood Avenue and Elmwood Elementary, has received approval for speed humps to control traffic speed and volume. Installation, planned for this summer, began in late June.

Bengies Road

Public Works has completed the construction of a turn-around on Bengies Road. The road has been closed permanently to through traffic at the cul-de-sac.

Oliver Beach Water Improvements - Ahead of Schedule

Utility crews began replacing 10,000 feet of water line in Oliver Beach in November 2012. The work to replace an old, cast-iron line, which has had a history of failures, will cost about $2.5 million and is expected to be finished by June or July 2014. It is ahead of schedule, 95 percent complete and should now be completed before the end of this year.

Mohrs Lane Bridge

The Mohrs Lane Bridge over the CSX Railroad, north of Pulaski Highway, was closed in 2007 because of structural deterioration. Demolition was completed by CSX in March 2011, at no cost to Baltimore County which has assumed ownership and plans to rebuild the span. A new bridge is currently being designed with construction scheduled for 2014. This bridge will be part of the future Campbell Boulevard Corridor.

Lynbrook Road

Baltimore County plans to invest $500,000 in Lynbrook Road this year, resurfacing and restoring curbs and gutters. The project should be completed before the end of this year.
