Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee Meeting

  • Citizen Input Meeting on Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee (PBAC) meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 16, at 5 p.m. in Room 104 of the Jefferson Building, 105 West Chesapeake Avenue in Towson.

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee is interested in hearing your suggestions for new bicycle or pedestrian improvements that could be candidates for grant funding - projects that are low in cost, make it easier or safer for you to access destinations by walking or cycling, and have the support of the community.

Oliver Beach Water Improvements

Utility crews began replacing 10,000 feet of water line in Oliver Beach in November 2012. The work to replace an old, cast-iron line, which has had a history of failures, will cost about $2.5 million and is expected to require more than a year to complete. It should be finished by June or July 2014. It is now 45 percent complete.

Mohrs Lane Bridge

The Mohrs Lane Bridge over the CSX Railroad, north of Pulaski Highway, was closed in 2007 because of structural deterioration. Demolition was completed by CSX in March 2011, at no cost to Baltimore County which has assumed ownership and plans to rebuild the span. A new bridge is currently being designed with construction scheduled for 2014. This bridge will be part of the future Campbell Boulevard Corridor.

Sewer Project on Helena Avenue

The Helena Avenue Pumping Station, off of Eastern Boulevard, is being completely renovated this year. Work began in April 2012 on the two-pump installation, and is scheduled to be finished on April 22, this year, not March 21 as previously noted. The cost is $1.3 million.

Lynbrook Road

Baltimore County plans to invest $500,000 in Lynbrook Road this year, resurfacing and restoring curbs and gutters. The project should be completed before the end of 2013.

Bridge Repair on Bird River Road

County contractors will repair the Bridge B-0614 - the Bird River Road Bridge over Windlass Run in White Marsh, beginning Monday, April 1. The month-long project will address the condition of the guard rail and barrier walls. During construction, which will be done during the day, one lane will be closed.
