Belair Road – TAP Panel Report

On November 16, 2011, Baltimore City and County along with the Urban Land Institute of Baltimore released “Revitalizing the Belair Road Corridor: A ULI Advisory Services Technical Assistance Panel Report.” With the support of Baltimore Mayor, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and Baltimore County Executive, Kevin Kamenetz, the report focuses on developing a variety of strategies that aim to revitalize the Belair Road Corridor, which serves as a gateway that links both the City and County. The report includes such recommendations as façade improvements, streetscape enhancements, branding and marketing key nodes along the corridor, as well as ideas for strengthening the communities that live along the corridor. The Belair Road TAP Report can be read online.

Mohrs Lane Bridge

The Mohrs Lane Bridge over the CSX Railroad, north of Pulaski Highway, was closed in 2007 because of structural deterioration. Demolition was completed by CSX in March – at no cost to Baltimore County which is assuming ownership, and plans to rebuild the span. A new bridge is currently being designed with construction scheduled for 2014. This bridge will be part of the future Campbell Boulevard Corridor.

New Water Lines for Essex on Schedule

Public Works plans to install 7,000 feet of new water line on South Marlyn Avenue, between Eastern Boulevard and Deep Creek. The new 16-inch line will improve water pressure and flow to the Back River Neck area, say engineers. Work began in June and should be completed by March 2012 - a little later than hoped because of heavy rains this fall. The project, which is now 65 percent complete, will cost $2.3 million.
