Water Line on 702 Will Increase Pressure & Improve Fire Protection
County contractors started work on a 16-inch water line in September on Southeast Boulevard (Rt. 702), which engineers say will increase water pressure in the area and improve fire protection. The line, running from Hyde Park Road to Back River Neck Road, is a mile long and should be finished by early spring of next year. It will cost $700 thousand. Major Water Rehab for Essex and Middle River
Public Works engineers are cleaning and relining nearly 100 thousand feet of water mains between Eastern Avenue, Stemmers Run Road, Middle River Road and Compass Road this year. The rehabilitation job, which includes Aero Acres and Hawthorne Park, began in June and will take about two years to complete. It's now 35 percent complete and will cost about $3 million. Country Ridge Pumping Station to be Wrapped Up by November
The Country Ridge Pumping Station on Mansfield Road in Essex has been getting an extensive upgrade this year. Renovations to the two-pump sewerage facility began last September and should be completed by November, say County engineers. Crews have completed about 50 percent of the work which engineers estimate will cost $1.3 million.

Bridge Replacement on Marlyn Avenue
County Bridge No. 77, a 100-foot span that crosses Deep Creek, is being replaced at a cost of about $2 million. Construction, which began in February, is expected to be completed by spring, 2009. During the project, one lane will be left open to traffic to minimize the impact on the community. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov.
Ebenezer Road Bridge Now Open to Traffic
The Ebenezer Road Bridge (Bridge No. 294), just north of Bird River Road over Windlass Run, has been repeatedly damaged by high water in recent years and has been replaced. The new bridge, opened to traffic last month, has an increased span to protect the structure from flooding.
Work, which began in January and is estimated to cost $1.5 million, will be completely finished before the end of the year when crews relocate a utility pole.
