The Baltimore County Planning Board will hold a public hearing on the Brandywine Planned Unit Development (PUD), PDM No. XIV-472. The Brandywine PUD is located on 7.44 acres in the 6th Councilmanic District on the E/S of Kenwood Avenue at the NE corner of Delegge Road. The PUD calls for 72 residential townhouse units. Work began in October and may cause some traffic congestion. Information: 410-887-2171 Back to top Public Works engineers are cleaning and relining nearly 100,000 feet of water mains between Eastern Avenue, Stemmers Run Road, Middle River Road and Compass Road. The rehabilitation job, which includes Aero Acres and Hawthorne Park, began in June of last year and will take about two years to complete. It's now 75 percent complete and will cost about $3 million. In addition, crews began cleaning and relining 6000 feet of line on Easter Terrace (ADC Map 37 A10). Baltimore County is installing a sewage collection system for Golupski and Phillips road residents. The system, designed to serve 28 residences on the Back River Neck Peninsula, consists of 2000 feet of sanitary sewer line and grinder pumps. A short "spur" on Trumps Mill Road (ADC Map 4700 H4), which connects Kenwood Avenue to Lillian Holt Drive, has been used by drivers to avoid the traffic signal on Lillian Holt. The popular shortcut was responsible for several accidents and the spur was closed to traffic last year. The Department of Public Works has decided to make the closure permanent and on June 29 the existing pavement was removed and the space returned to grass, say traffic engineers. Public Works engineers plan to close Raspe Avenue in Overlea (five blocks below Kenwood Avenue, between St. Patrick and Meadow) in order to repair a culvert. Work begun in june and is expected to be finished by mid July. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top
Residents of Dale Avenue in Overlea requested something be done about traffic on their street which recently qualified for traffic calming measures. The County's traffic engineers have completed a proposal and plan to submit it to the community in July for review and approval. Information: 410-887-3554
Utility crews will begin replacing an old cast iron water line in July running through Westwood Avenue (just north of Hazelwood Avenue, ADC Map 4700 F5) this month. The old six-inch diameter line had been troubled with frequent breaks and will be replaced with a twelve-inch pipe. The project is expected to cost $300,000 and be completed in September.
