New Sewage Pumping Stations at White Marsh and Stemmers Run (July Update)

Last October (2006), the Department of Public Works began work on two new sewage pumping stations for White Marsh and Stemmers Run which will be completed in two years and collectively cost nearly $22 million. A new White Marsh Station will replace the existing facility and will double the daily pumping capacity from 37 million gallons per day to 72 million. It should be finished in February of 2009. The new station at Stemmers Run will also dramatically increase capacity, but will work in conjunction with the existing station. Construction (expected to be finished in October) is part of the County's effort to improve sewer service to residents and comply with State and Federal environmental mandates.
