A Major Water Project on Belair Road

County contractors began work on a major water project on Belair Road in October 2008. Crews are putting down almost 9,000 feet of 24-inch water line between White Marsh Boulevard and Ebenezer Road. The new line will increase capacity, improve water pressure and help insure adequate fire protection for the area. Construction, say engineers, will take more than a year with much of the work scheduled during the night, to minimize traffic congestion on the busy corridor.  The project, now 80 percent completed, is expected to cost $5.5 million.

New Mains for Chesapeake

Public Works is improving water pressure and enhancing fire protection with the installation of 2,000 feet of new line on Chesapeake Avenue in the heart of west Towson. This new main will connect several dead-end pipes and, say engineers, will  "close the loop" in the system, allowing the water to circulate more efficiently and to reduce stagnation. The project, which costs $1.7 million, is complete except for repaving which will be done when weather permits.

Honeygo Blvd. to Open this Year

The final phase of Honeygo Boulevard, connecting the new four-lane boulevard to Belair Road, will be finished by the end of this year, say Baltimore County's engineers. The last stretch of the boulevard, which is approximately 1,000 feet long, was started in April 2008 and will cost about $4 million, according to engineers.

Joppa Road Renovations

Work started last year on major improvements to Joppa between Cowenton and Chapel Hill Elementary. The 1,600-foot stretch has received new water and sewer lines, curbs and gutters and sidewalks. There's still much to be done, but County engineers expect the project, which costs $4.5 million, to be completed soon.
