Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee – Citizen Input Meeting

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 11, at 4 p.m. in Room 104 of the Jefferson Building, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson.

Mark your calendars for the Citizen Input Meeting on Pedestrian and Bicycle Improvements

The Pedestrian and Bicycle Advisory Committee is interested in hearing your suggestions for new bicycle or pedestrian improvements that could be candidates for grant funding - projects that are low in cost, make it easier or safer for you to access destinations by walking or cycling, and have the support of the community.

Water Improvements in Carney

Utility crews will begin replacing an old water line running under Harford Road in April. A new 12-inch replacement line will be installed on Harford Road between Cub Hill Road and a point 250 feet north of Joppa Road. Construction will cost $3.8 million and should be finished by the summer, 2015.

Traffic Calming in Rodgers Forge

Public Works is planning a pedestrian refuge island and pedestrian ramps at Stevenson Lane and Stanmore Road, plus new sidewalks to serve the rear of Rodgers Forge Elementary. Construction will be scheduled as weather permits.

Sewer Rehab in the District

Public Works began relining 10,822 feet of sewer line in Rodgers Forge in June. The project, which is part of Baltimore County’s agreement with the EPA to eliminate sewer overflows, will cost $663,000. Construction is scheduled to be completed in June this year.

Bird River Pumping Station

Baltimore County is investing $2.57 million to improve the Bird River Pumping Station. Construction began in October 2012 and should be completed on June 5. this year.

Water Construction on York Road in Towson

Baltimore County is replacing an old and troublesome water line that runs through York Road, between the Beltway and Washington Avenue. During construction, which began May 20, the old 10-inch line will be abandoned and replaced with new 20- and 24-inch diameter pipes. Crews have mobilized and about 65 percent of the project is already finished. Crews are now on winter shut-down and will resume work in April. The line, costing $3.2 million, is expected to be completed in June, this year.
