The Greater Hillendale Community Plan will hold its first meeting on Wednesday, May 28, 6:30 p.m. at Halstead Academy in the Cafeteria, 1111 Halstead Road, Baltimore, MD 21234. Topics of the meeting include: ways to improve the community, input on changes and preservation.

County officials have announced that the new Rental Registration Law is now in effect, and that owners of most residential rental units in buildings with one to six units must be inspected, registered and licensed by the county on or before July 1, 2008. A landlord who fails to comply with this law is subject to a civil penalty of $1,000.
This law, initiated by the County Council and passed on December 19, extends a pilot program in certain neighborhoods to cover the entire county. The purpose of the law is to protect the safety, health and welfare of tenants of by creating an additional procedure for the enforcement of county codes and violations. Tenants of larger apartment complexes are already protected by the County's Livability Code.
