Baltimore County Historic Preservation – NACo Award   

The Preservation Services Division of the Department of Planning was granted a 2013 NACo Achievement Award in the category of Arts and Historic Preservation for their Historic Preservation Design Guidelines publication. The award recognizes innovative county programs that have yielded positive results for county residents. The Historic Preservation Design Guidelines were developed to be a resource for citizens who are interested in rehabilitating historic homes.

Middle Gwynns Falls Watershed - Community Meeting

A Small Watershed Action Plan (SWAP) meeting for the Middle Gwynns Falls watershed will be held on Thursday, July 18, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Randallstown Library, 8604 Liberty Road, Randallstown, Maryland  21133.

Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability (EPS) and Blue Water Baltimore will host a community meeting to discuss the development of a Small Watershed Action Plan (SWAP) for the Middle Gwynns Falls watershed. This planning area includes communities in the Pikesville, Randallstown and Woodlawn vicinity, which drain to the Gwynns Falls. Community input is integral in creating the plan, which will guide restoration efforts in the watershed to improve water quality in Baltimore County’s streams and the Chesapeake Bay.

Traffic Calming on Langrehr Road

Langrehr Road in Milford Mill qualified for traffic calming measures. Speed humps will be installed this summer.

Church Lane, between Milford Mill and Rolling Road, has qualified for two speed humps. Public Works expects to install them this summer.

The Landmarks Preservation Commission meeting will be held on Thursday, July 11, at 6 p.m. in Room 104 of the Jefferson Building, 105 West Chesapeake Avenue in Towson.

Dolfield Boulevard

Dolfield Boulevard, from Interstate-795 to Reisterstown Road, is under construction. The new, four-lane, divided highway, which includes sidewalks, will connect Reisterstown Road with Red Run Boulevard and the Owings Mills Town Center. The $6.5 million project will be more than a half-mile long and is expected to be open to traffic by the end of summer.

Owings Mills Boulevard

Owings Mills Boulevard South, Phase II, which connects Winands Road to Liberty Road, will be under construction this summer.

Sewers

Public Works will invest $1.3 million to improve the Carroll Avenue Pumping Station in Owings Mills this year. Renovations, which began in late January, are expected to be completed by February 2014. The improvements include new pumps.
