The 2008 Komen Maryland Race for the Cure will be held on Sunday, October 19 in Hunt Valley. As Honorary Chairman of this race, Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith encourages all of Baltimore County and the entire state to help Komen reach their goal of $4 million so the organization can serve people by funding breast health services in Maryland and Save Lives by funding national research.

Subet Road (ADC Map 32 K2) recently qualified for traffic calming and traffic engineers prepared recommendations to slow traffic which were submitted to residents for review.

Public Works is cleaning and lining water mains in neighborhoods bounded by the Beltway, Milford Mill Road, Liberty Road and Washington Avenue. (The rehabilitation also includes part of Sudbrook.) Work on the lines began this summer and is expected to be completed in November. The one-million dollar project is now 60 percent finished, say engineers.

Construction of the Dolfield Boulevard Bridge over Red Run will begin in late October. The $8 million dollar structure, which will be 420 feet long, is part of a major long-range plan to provide traffic capacity for the expanding Owings Mills community. Engineers expect that construction, which will help link Lakeside Blvd. and Reisterstown Road, will require at least two years.
