Loch Raven East Watershed - Community Meeting

A draft Small Watershed Action Plan (SWAP) has been developed for the Loch Raven East watershed. This planning area includes communities in the Phoenix, Jacksonville, and Long Green vicinity, which drain to the Loch Raven Reservoir. The SWAP identifies strategies to bring a small watershed into compliance with water quality standards. Community input is integral to the plan, which will guide restoration efforts in the watershed to improve water quality in our drinking water reservoir and stream health. Residents, business owners, and anyone interested in clean water is encouraged to attend.

Hosted by the Baltimore County Department of Environmental Protection and Sustainability and the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy.

Thursday, November 7, 6:30 to  8 p.m.

New Water Pipe for York Road

Baltimore County’s contractors are replacing 9,500 feet of old water line in York Road, between Ridgely and Padonia Roads. The new 24-inch line, double the diameter of the old line, is expected to cost $5 million and take one to three years to install. The project, according to County engineers, is designed “to build redundancy into the system." The County’s contractor, Burgermeister Bell, started the project in April 2010 and should be finished by December. The project is 94 percent complete.
