Planning Board Public Hearing
The Baltimore County Planning Board will hold a public hearing on the Planned Unit Development (PUD) Procedures on Thursday, September 3 at 5 p.m. in the Jefferson Building, Room 104, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson. The focus of the hearing is to establish a reasonable and consistent process for the Planning Board to hear, consider, and act upon Planned Unit Developments, authorized by Section 32-4-245 (c)(1), of the Baltimore County Code, 2003. Plans have begun on a major waterline replacement project for parts of Glyndon. The Department of Public Works plans to replace 9,000 feet of pipe in parts of Central Avenue, Butler Road, Waugh Avenue, Prospect Avenue, Worthington Hill and Fisk Avenue. The work, estimated at $2 million, is expected to begin in the spring of 2010, and be finished by the spring of 2011. The site is currently being surveyed.

Bridge Replacement on Gunpowder Road
Public Works began replacing the Gunpowder Road Bridge over Georges Run beginning in August. Work on the 40-foot long bridge began with utility relocation work by BGE (which has been completed) and the job should be finished by the spring of next year. Detours are currently in place. The project will cost about $700,000, say engineers.

Water Pumping Station Rehab In Timonium
Public Works will begin replacing the motor controls (and valves) at its water pumping station on Westdale Court in Timonium this September. The rehabilitation, which is estimated to cost $900,000 is expected to take a year and a half and be finished before the end of 2010.

Baltimore County closed the Monkton Road Bridge, which spans Charles Run, at the beginning of August in order to repair the deteriorating structure. Construction was anticipated to take six weeks and the bridge should be reopened by mid or late September. During construction of the 48-foot span, estimated to cost $100,000 traffic on Monkton Road is being detoured to Old York, Troyer and Shepperd.

The Shawan Road - Cuba Road Intersection
Residents, community groups and Public Works officials met at the end of July to discuss ways to improve the intersection of Cuba and Shawan roads. Comments from the meeting were posted on the Public Works web site along with responses from Public Works engineers.
