As Honorary Chairman of this race, Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith encourages all of Baltimore County and the entire state to help Komen reach their goal of $4 million so the organization can serve people by funding breast health services in Maryland and Save Lives by funding national research. Information: Register for Race Back to top The two-lane, Big Falls Road Bridge (No. 73) over the Gunpowder was closed a year ago in order to completely replace the aging structure. The 88-foot span was built in 1933 and the repairs have cost $1.8 million. Engineers expect the work to be completed in early October. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top The Long Green Pike Bridge in Baldwin - not the bridge in Glen Arm of the same name which was completed and opened in August - is under repair. Work began in late September and should be finished before the end of October. The concrete bridge, located at Baldwin Mill and Fork roads, has a span of nine feet. Residents on Pot Spring Road (ADC Map 19 D6) north of Bosley recently requested traffic calming for their street. Traffic engineers from Public Works have approved the street for calming measures and will submit plans to resident this month (October). Information: 410-887-3554 Back to top
Western Run Road Bridge (ADC Map 12 C-12) is being replaced. Work began in July and should be completed by late October. The new bridge will cost $400 thousand. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top Four streets in Historic Lutherville recently qualified for traffic calming measures: Morris Avenue, Melancthon Avenue, Lincoln Avenue and Front Street. Engineers from Public Works drew up plans to fit the historic community, including speed humps with brick tops, that were submitted to residents for their approval in August. Crews began rebuilding the Mount Vista Road Bridge over Sweathouse Branch near Harford Road in June. Work on the two-lane bridge will take about ten months and cost $875 thousand. Completion is expected in February of 2009. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top
