The Department of Public Works will replace 9,000 feet of pipe in parts of Central Avenue, Butler Road, Waugh Avenue, Prospect Avenue, Worthington Hill and Fisk Avenue. Construction, estimated at $2 million, is expected to begin in the spring of 2010, and be finished by the spring of 2011. The site was surveyed over the summer and Public Works has started designing the project. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top Bridge Replacement on Gunpowder RoadPublic Works began replacing the forty-foot-long Gunpowder Road Bridge over Georges Run in August. The project which began with utility re-location work by BGE, will cost $700,000. It should be finished by the spring of next year, say engineers. Detours are currently in place. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top Water Pumping Station Rehab In TimoniumPublic Works will begin replacing the motor controls (and valves) at its water pumping station on Westdale Court in Timonium this November. The rehabilitation, which is estimated to cost $900,000 is expected to take a year and a half and be finished before the end of 2010. Work is now 15 percent complete. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top Monkton Road Bridge ClosedBaltimore County closed the Monkton Road Bridge, which spans Charles Run, at the beginning of August in order to repair the deteriorating structure. Construction was anticipated to take six weeks but because of un-anticipated structural problems, work has been extended through mid November. During construction of the 48-foot span, estimated to cost $100,000, traffic on Monkton Road is being detoured to Old York, Troyer and Shepperd. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top Sparks Road to Close for a WeekBaltimore County will close a portion of Sparks Road (between Sparks Station Road and the Gunpowder Falls State Park) Monday, November 2 in order to repair erosion undermining one lane of the travel surface. The road will be closed through the week and will be reopened the following Monday, November 9. During construction traffic will be detoured to Glencoe Road. Information: 410-887-2171 Back to top Repair Work on Historic Covered Bridge: Closing 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.The Jericho Road Bridge, built in 1865 and restored in 1982, is scheduled for routine repairs. The bridge, which crosses Gunpowder Falls, will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from November 2 to November 24. During the construction period detours will be marked.
