The Baltimore County Planning Board, in conjunction with County agencies, welcomes citizens to participate in the annual review of the Capital Improvement Program for fiscal years 2011 through 2016. The Board will meet on Thursday, October 15 at 6 p.m. in the Jefferson Building, Room 104, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson. The meeting allows citizens' comments to be considered as County agencies formulate their requests. Agencies' requests will be submitted to the Planning Board in January for review and approval. Plans have begun on a major waterline replacement project for parts of Glyndon. The Department of Public Works plans to replace 9,000 feet of pipe in parts of Central Avenue, Butler Road, Waugh Avenue, Prospect Avenue, Worthington Hill and Fisk Avenue. Construction, estimated at $2 million, is expected to begin in the spring 2010, and be finished by the spring of 2011. Public Works began replacing the Gunpowder Road Bridge over Georges Run beginning in August. The project which began with utility re-location work by BGE, will cost $700,000. Public Works will begin replacing the motor controls (and valving) at its water pumping station on Westdale Court in Timonium this October. The rehabilitation, which is estimated to cost $900,000 is expected to take a year and a half and be finished before the end of 2010. Information: enginrng@baltimorecountymd.gov Back to top
Baltimore County closed the Monkton Road Bridge, which spans Charles Run, at the beginning of August in order to repair the deteriorating structure. Construction was anticipated to take six weeks but because of un-anticipated structural problems, work has been extended through mid October. During construction of the 48-foot span, estimated to cost $100,000, traffic on Monkton Road is being detoured to Old York, Troyer and Shepperd.
