Citizen Input Meeting - Capital Improvement Program

The Baltimore County Planning Board, in conjunction with County agencies, welcomes citizens to participate in the annual review of the Capital Improvement Program for fiscal years 2011 through 2016. The Board will meet on Thursday, October 15 at 6 p.m. in the Jefferson Building, Room 104, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson. The meeting allows citizens' comments to be considered as County agencies formulate their requests. Agencies' requests will be submitted to the Planning Board in January for review and approval. If unable to attend, written comments may be provided to the Planning Board.

Water Work in Glyndon

Plans have begun on a major waterline replacement project for parts of Glyndon. The Department of Public Works plans to replace 9,000 feet of pipe in parts of Central Avenue, Butler Road, Waugh Avenue, Prospect Avenue, Worthington Hill and Fisk Avenue. Construction, estimated at $2 million, is expected to begin in the spring  2010, and be finished by the spring of 2011. The site was surveyed over the summer and Public Works has started designing the project.

Bridge Replacement on Gunpowder Road

Public Works began replacing the Gunpowder Road Bridge over Georges Run beginning in August. The project which began with utility re-location work by BGE, will cost $700,000. It should be finished by the spring of next year, say engineers. Detours are currently in place.

Water Pumping Station Rehab In Timonium

Public Works will begin replacing the motor controls (and valving) at its water pumping station on Westdale Court in Timonium this October. The rehabilitation, which is estimated to cost $900,000 is expected to take a year and a half and be finished before the end of 2010.

Monkton Road Bridge Closed

Baltimore County closed the Monkton Road Bridge, which spans Charles Run, at the beginning of August in order to repair the deteriorating structure. Construction was anticipated to take six weeks but because of un-anticipated structural problems, work has been extended through mid October. During construction of the 48-foot span, estimated to cost $100,000, traffic on Monkton Road is being detoured to Old York, Troyer and Shepperd.

The Shawan Road - Cuba Road Intersection

Public Works has selected a design to improve the Shawan Road-Cuba Road Intersection. The announcement, and an explanation of the decision, was posted on the Department's web site in mid-September.

Thornton Mill Road Bridge

Thornton Mill Road Bridge (No. 193) over Western Run will be renovated. Construction, which is expected to cost $700,000, is planned for next spring.

Public Hearing - Regulation of Police Initiated Towing
Date/Time: 10/21/2009 2:00 p.m. - 10/21/2009 3:00 p.m.
The Director of the Department of Permits and Development Management will hold a public hearing in Towson, Maryland on proposed regulations that apply to persons applying for and maintaining a Baltimore County Police-Initiated Towing License. Written comments referencing the proposed regulations shall be mailed or delivered to Room 105, County Office Building, 111 West Chesapeake Avenue, Towson, Maryland 21204 by Wednesday, October 21, 2009.

Description: A Police-Initiated Towing License replaces the Licensed Accident Towing License in accordance with Bill 67-07 enacted by the Baltimore County Council on September 4, 2007 which also directed that Police Department requests for towing be made to a County contractor who will provide the towing services requested.
