Planning Board Public Hearing

The Baltimore County Planning Board will hold a public hearing on May 7 at 5 p.m. regarding the Preserve at Windlass Run Planned Unit Development (PUD), PDM No. 15-948. The hearing will be held in the Jefferson Building, Room 104, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson.

The PUD is located on 120.94 +/- acres on the SE/S of the proposed Campbell Boulevard; S of White Marsh Boulevard. The property is located in the 6th Councilmanic District. The PUD calls for a residential townhouse and single-family detached development of 424 units. Please check the web site for the meeting agenda and any last minute schedule changes.

Baltimore County's Future Growth

The Office of Planning will present Matt D'Amico, of the Design Collective, for a creative educational session on growth in the County in the next few decades. Master Plan Amendment - Rural Areas - Public Input Meetings

The Office of Planning is amending the Rural Areas section of Master Plan 2010. The plan was adopted on February 22, 2000, and is slated for its decennial review and amendment. The plan will be amended in sections, beginning with the Rural Areas portion. Other sections will be revised over the next year and a half. Notices will be published regarding all future amendments.

The following public input meetings are scheduled to discuss the Rural Areas amendment to the Master Plan at the following locations:

Waterline on Cockeysville Road Nearing Completion

The replacement of a 60-year old water line in Cockeysville Road, between York and Beaver Dam roads, began in October 2008 and will be finished in May. The old 8-inch line is being replaced with a 16-inch conduit at a cost of $700,000 in order to improve fire protection for the area. The road will be repaved this month.

Water Work in Glyndon

Plans have begun on a major waterline replacement project for parts of Glyndon. The Department of Public Works plans to replace 9,000 feet of pipe in parts of Central Avenue, Butler Road, Waugh Avenue, Prospect Avenue, Worthington Hill and Fisk Avenue. Work, estimated at $2 million, is expected to begin in the spring of next year, 2010, and be finished by the spring of 2011.

Bridge Replacement on Gunpowder Road

Public Works plans to replace the Gunpowder Road Bridge over Georges Run beginning in August of this year. The 40-foot long bridge is expected to be under construction by the end of summer and completed by the spring of next year. The work will cost about $700,000.

Iron Horse Lane: Residents ask for Traffic Changes

Residents of Iron Horse Lane have asked Public Works to add centerline markings to their road to improve traffic flow. Having examined the situation, the Department's traffic engineers plan to paint a double-yellow centerline between McDonogh Road and Mount Wilson Lane by late spring or early summer.
