Planning Board Meetings

The Baltimore County Planning Board meetings meetings schedule is as follows:

Pro Bono Day 2013

You are invited to discuss your civil legal problems one-on-one with volunteer attorneys at a legal clinic on Saturday October 12, from 9 a.m. to noon, at the American Legion Post 109, 1610 Old Sulphur Spring Road, Arbutus, Maryland 21227.

This event is free and no registration is required.

Types of issues include:

Baltimore County Commission on Disabilities – 23rd Annual Awards Ceremony and Luncheon

The Baltimore County Commission on Disabilities will hold its 23rd Annual Awards Ceremony and Luncheon on Wednesday, October 16, at noon at the Sheraton Baltimore North, 903 Dulaney Valley Road in Towson.

This year, we have 15 winners in categories ranging from Teacher and Student of the Year, to Employer and Family Support. Of note, Mr. Darren Guest will receive this year's Chairperson's Special Award. See samples of Mr. Guest's work.

County Executive Kevin Kamenetz will be on hand to present Executive Citations to the winners, and Ms. Kathleen Cairns of WBFF Fox 45 will be our Master of Ceremonies.

Cost is $10. All are invited.

Big Trees Sale

We are pleased to announce the 8th bi-annual Big Trees Sale hosted by EPS. The Big Trees sale will take place Saturday October 12, 2013. Residents will have the option for several early pick-up dates at our nursery if they can't make it to the sale. This year we are also offering Tree Shelter Kits to better protect trees from deer.

CIP Citizen Input Meeting

The Capital Improvement Program will host the Citizen Input Meeting on Thursday, October 17, at 5 p.m. in Room 104 of the Jefferson Building, 105 West Chesapeake Avenue in Towson.

The Baltimore County Planning Board welcomes citizens to participate in the annual review of the Capital Improvement Program for fiscal years 2015 through 2020. The meeting allows citizen comments to be considered as County agencies formulate their requests. The agency requests will be submitted to the Planning Board in January for review and approval.

Landmarks Preservation Commission Meeting - Canceled

The Landmarks Preservation Commission meeting will be held on Thursday, October 10, at 6 p.m. in Room 104 of the Jefferson Building, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson.

Old Pimlico Road Sidewalks

Public Works will construct new sidewalks between Woodbox Lane and the Bais Hamedrash and Mesivta of Baltimore school along Old Pimlico Road.

Enchanted Hills Pumping Station

In April, crews began rehabilitating the Enchanted Hills sewage pumping station off of Reisterstown Road in Owings Mills. Construction, estimated to cost $1.552 million, will require a year and should be finished by early April 2014. The project is on schedule.

Offutt Road Bridge: Repairs Postponed

The Offutt Road Bridge, 2600 block of Offutt Road, which collapsed during tropical storms in September 2011, was given a temporary fix two months later in November to allow one lane of traffic. A permanent repair was planned for this summer but because of environmental and rights-of-way issues, as well as concern for the integrity of Mardella Branch, repairs will begin in April or May 2014. The design work is in progress, according to engineers.

Bridge Work on Painters Mill Road

Public Works will replace the deck of Bridge Number 103, the Painters Mill Road Bridge over Gwynns Falls in Owings Mills, beginning this year. The $2 million project started in August, and is expected to take about a year and a half to complete, according to the County’s structural engineers. During the work, traffic will be maintained with three lanes open.

Montrose Avenue Pumping Station Improvements

Public Works plans extensive improvements to the Montrose Avenue sewage pumping station this year – expanding the facility and enhancing the landscape. The project, will take about a year to complete according to engineers, is expected to begin shortly after the Labor Day holiday this year. The project will cost about $1 million.
