The Baltimore County Planning Board will hold a public hearing on the Planned Unit Development (PUD) Procedures on Thursday, September 3 at 5 p.m. in the Jefferson Building, Room 104, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson. The focus of the hearing is to establish a reasonable and consistent process for the Planning Board to hear, consider, and act upon Planned Unit Developments, authorized by Section 32-4-245 (c)(1), of the Baltimore County Code, 2003. Written comments may be sent to Arnold F. 'Pat' Keller, III, Secretary to the Board, Office of Planning, 105 W. Chesapeake Ave., Suite 101, Towson, MD 21204. The Planning Board Committee - Wind Turbines, Technical/Professional Presentations will meet on Tuesday, September 15 at 5 p.m. in the Jefferson Building, Room 104, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson. Citizens are invited to attend for informational purposes. Scheduled speakers include:
- Andrew Gohn, Clean Energy Program Manager, Maryland Energy Administration
- Representatives from BGE, Small Generator Interconnection Program (net metering)
- Tim Fluharty, Fluharty Electric, installer of about 20 small wind turbines in Maryland
This meeting is being held as part of the Planning Board's consideration of zoning legislation to allow small wind energy systems for use by individual property owners in Baltimore County.

The Planning Board Committee - Wind Turbines, Citizen Input Meeting will meet on Tuesday, September 22 at 5 p.m. in the Jefferson Building, Room 104, 105 W. Chesapeake Avenue in Towson. Citizens are invited to express their opinions about the future role of small wind energy systems in Baltimore County. This meeting is being held as part of the Planning Board's consideration of zoning legislation to allow small wind energy systems for use by individual property owners in Baltimore County.

DPW contractors began cleaning and repainting (inside and out) two water storage tanks on Pleasant Hill in June. Together the two tanks hold 1.3 million gallons of water and the rehabilitation will cost $900,000. The small tank was completed last November and the larger one is expected to be completed by early September.

The Department of Public Works has completed a major water line rehabilitation in the Ruxton area between Belona, Malvern, Charles, and Joppa roads. Most of the old pipes serving about 600 homes have been cleaned and lined, improving pressure for the community. Only the line on Roland View Avenue remains, say engineers. It will be finished soon, along with the final house connections to a replacement line in Belona. Work on the final stage may cause unavoidable traffic problems, say engineers.

Cherry Hill Road is being extended to Owings Mills Boulevard (ADC Map 16 E-9) this year with the construction of a bridge over Gwynns Falls and the CSX Rail Road. The bridge and roadway connection will be approximately 800 feet long and construction crews are expected to break ground summer 2010. Estimated cost: $10 million.

Public Works is planning to add water pipes this December where Timber Grove Road crosses the CSX tracks south of Glyndon. The new line, which will cost $750,000, is expected to improve water quality in the area and enhance fire protection. The job will be finished in early 2010, say engineers.

Green Tree Road to be Resurfaced with New Lanes
Green Tree Road, between Hooks Lane and Avalon, will receive a slurry seal coating and be reconfigured from four lanes to three in September. "The new configuration will provide more traffic capacity for this busy and growing area, " say engineers.
